can you put a hitch, for a bike rack, on my car?

Need a hitch? Here’s an easy way to find out if your car can have one installed.

Start with a quick search on etrailer.com. Enter your vehicle’s year, make, and model and the site will show which hitches are compatible and which bike racks will work with those hitches. It’s an easy, reliable way to check fitment before you buy parts or book an installation.

Hitch and bike rack options

  • Receiver hitches come in different classes (Class I–V) and receiver sizes (commonly 1-1/4" and 2") — the right one depends on your vehicle and towing needs.

  • Bike racks also vary: platform (tray) racks, hanging racks, and fork-mount or wheel-mount styles. Platform racks are popular for heavier e-bikes because they support bikes securely and distribute weight better.

  • E-bikes often require racks rated for higher tongue weights and sometimes wider wheelbases, so be sure the rack you choose is rated for your e-bike’s weight and dimensions.

Our process — transparent and simple

  • We’re transparent about pricing. For the hitch and bike rack parts, we charge the same prices shown on etrailer.com.

  • We require a deposit to order the parts. Parts commonly arrive the next day.

  • When the parts arrive we call you to schedule the installation appointment and complete the job.
